A good service is often enough to breathe new life into an old deck. The combination of new oil, springs, belt and a suspension tune can often provide a startling improvement in a turntable’s performance. If you feel that your deck deserves a more extensive refurbishment, we can provide a quote – with or without upgrades – to restore your deck to very close to the condition that it left the factory.

Like anything with moving parts, servicing is critical to the performance of a deck. It doesn’t have to be too frequent – just more often than once every 30 years! A new belt every couple of years tends to suffice – along with a change of oil and springs every 5 years.

Most people will feel able to change a belt, many will feel confident enough to change the oil but adjusting the springs is a ‘dark art’ which only few truly possess the skill!

If your deck is still packing its original power supply (main circuit board), the chances are the power supply would benefit from refurbishment (re-capping) or possibly replacing, particularly if you would like the facility to play 45 RPM records. We can take care of either of these options for you.

Similarly, you might like to spruce your deck up and bring it into the 21st century. We can help you with this in two ways. Firstly, be restoring what you have – by stripping the deck and refinishing the components in a similar way to the way that I prepare vintage turntables for sale – and then rebuilding it with new springs, oil and belt. The second way, is to ‘transplant’ your deck into a  new (or different) plinth, potentially with a new arm board and Lid, which would make your deck hard to distinguish from the current model.

Either option will provide a pleasing outcome for you and your deck.
